Homebuyer Tax Credit ~ Expanded and Extended

Under the new law, an eligible taxpayer must buy, or enter into a binding contract to buy, a principal residence on or before April 30, 2010 and close on the home by June 30, 2010. For qualifying purchases in 2010, taxpayers have the option of claiming the credit on either their 2009 or 2010 return.

The Moriches Area

Believed to be named for an Indian who lived on the east bank of Paquatuck River (currently known as Terrell's River), the area today encompasses Moriches, Center Moriches and East Moriches.  According to historical data, after the first Europeans arrived, different spellings included Meritche, Merquices, Maritches, Marigies, Moritches and Meriches.  The arrival of the railroad in 1881 made the Moriches area accessible to vacationers.  Famous visitors include Thomas Jefferson and James Madison during their trip to Long Island in 1791.

Center Moriches

The luxurious Masury Point Estate located at 28 Old Neck Road sits on the waterfront on 4.3 acres.  If you're interested in a home with spectacular views of Moriches Bay, then check out 140 Ocean Avenue.  The views of the Bay are breathtaking.

 East Moriches 

The Hamlet of East Moriches is a great community which offers everything from skydiving to fishing.  Neighborhoods within the Hamlet offer deeded beach and boating rights.  Peruse our listings in East Moriches and you will find a variety of home types with price ranges from $279,000 for a starter ranch up to $589,000 for a beautiful detached Patio House in Harts Cove at One Thoroughbred Court.  The Harts Cove Community amenties include a pool and tennis courts.

Manorville

Historians believe Manorville was at one time called The Manor of St. George.  Renamed in 1844, Manorville boasts a long and significant history.   Situated at the western edge of the Long Island Pine Barrens, the land is heavily wooded and features some wetlands.  Much of the northeastern park of town is in the Pine Barrens' "Core Preservation Area," where no further development is allowed.  Manorville is the largest hamlet in New York State in terms of area.
